Beyond Good & Evil Coming To XBLA, PSN

Ubisoft's cult classic title Beyond Good & Evil will be getting a digital high-definition re-release next year on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network, now with clean 1080p visuals and all the flourishes you expect from a remake.

Originally released back in 2003 for the Xbox, PS2 and Gamecube, Beyond Good And Evil got quite a bit of praise for its design and aesthetics -- but didn't do so well at retail. Ubisoft have been suggesting a sequel to the title for some times, but 7 years later the original may feel like an age ago. A digital re-release seems like the best way to bring both old and new players back into the fray.

There's been suggestion that Ubisoft are hard at work at a lot of remakes of PS2 and Xbox games -- including a Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia and Rayman HD collection for PS3 retail, but no digital releases. The lack of digital release for them seemed odd (I really do just want Rayman 2, thanks!), so it's glad that another title, which doesn't have any ties to other games, is getting the digital treatment.

It's expected to hit early 2011 sometime, so you have a little time to wait for it.
